She could see some of the distrust lingering in the eyes of the local medical personnel but Alison brushed it aside. It was to be expected because this was rather...peculiar circumstances to say the least but apparently when you're Charles Xavier and you call the right people your task force isn't immediately arrested by very rightfully suspicious Australians on high alert. Alison didn't know who he had talked to but it had been the right calls to make as, when they had arrived there, the emergency personnel were already rolling in. It had just not happened fast enough for Alison to like...not fast enough to call the whole thing in the stadium off.

Why couldn't they had just been a few more minutes earlier? Alison knew why but she wasn't exactly sure how to handle that. "Saline supplies are over there between those trucks, take that on over there, make sure the people there know you've dropped it off so they can prep the bags." She motioned on more people, glancing around for the familiar faces she was now trying to seek out in and around this chaos.

Most of the X-Men were setting up for the initial assault and soon enough others would be as well but there were some people she meant to snag before everything truly begun. The people she was looking for were rather easily found at least. There were few people that could be mistaken for Ororo Munroe and nobody could be mistaken for Kurt Wagner at all.

"There you two are, Hank went to set up behind the initial line of ambulances, cases that can't be moved right away should be dropped back near him and everyone else just right at front...are you good for this?" She still worried about asking students for anything like this; it just felt like too much.

She had never done very well in enclosed spaces and while the jet was spacious enough, it was still too tight for Ororo's liking. Especially when filled with staff and students alike. She had spent a good portion of the trip settling her emotions and reminding herself that while she was in an airplane and not riding on the winds as she was wont to do, she was fine. Besides, it wouldn't do for the others to see her fears as they all had enough on their minds.

Betrayal was one of the most devastating things to deal with and it wasn't even going to be properly handled until later. Right now, they had a very important mission to undertake and while Storm would much rather be back at the university right at that moment, she was grateful for the distraction of what they were going to discover in Australia. The newsfeeds already gave a very realistic indication but seeing, as they said, was certainly believing.

Indeed, it was terrible. Even for someone who spend a decade in what others would consider a poverty stricken land, this was famine on a much greater scale, albeit contained within a stadium. There were children and teachers dead and many so emaciated it was a miracle they were able to move, let alone stagger toward the exits of the stadium, as one camera indicated.

Triage stations were set up and she ignored the distrustful looks from various paramedics. Now was not the time to deal with such. As she turned to address a few of the X-Men standing nearby, Alison approached. Nodding her assent, Ororo turned toward their blue furred charge. "Recover and deliver, something I believe we can both handle well. Are you ready, Kurt?" she asked the young man. Realistically, this was something none of them should be ready for but they would have to push apprehension aside and take care of others for now.

Calling upon the winds, she lifted gracefully into the air and flew over toward the first victims she saw. It would only take a moment to determine if she was too late or if they were still alive. Gently, she once again summoned the wind and began to deliver victims to the appropriate triage areas. It was going to be a very long day.

Things at the moment were the weirdest they had been for Kurt since he had arrived in America. The students that had been kidnapped before Kurt’s arrival and were serving the so called Apocalypse had reappeared and were wreaking havoc upon the world, these weren’t the first of the horseman that Kurt had seen but two at once was hardly a good sign. It wasn’t all doom and gloom for Kurt though, he had pushed his powers to new limits and in the process had made some friends along the way – though the teleporter wasn’t sure that Tom would believe him if he tried to tell him what he had been up to lately.

This time Kurt was not on the front lines. Instead he was helping three of the staff members at the school to deal with the chaos that came when primeval forces brought their wrath down upon the world. A true believer in God, Kurt knew there would be a time when the four horseman would ride during the true apocalypse. What he had seen so far though was a mutant hell bent on making his own apocalypse and using religion to help spread fear of his own cause.

Despite not being on the frontlines this time around, there was still just as much chaos dealing with the injured and Kurt knew that before the sun had set today his powers were going to be pushed to a limit that he might not even be aware of yet.

Alison Blair, one of Kurt’s teachers spoke of the task that they needed to do, if this was a computer game then it would be the taxi style collect x and deliver to y type missions. Something Kurt was more than capable of doing with his teleportation powers. ” Ja, ich kann dies tun,” The teleporter nodded his confirmation that it was something he could do within his powers. ”I mean yes I can do this.”

Kurt now turned towards Ororo as she asked whether he was ready or not, ”People or crates?” Kurt could do either, crates would be easier for him given he had yet to find a way to hide his natural appearance and he didn’t want to upset the injured any more than they already were. Ororo soon took to the skies and Kurt took his own methods of travel as he disappeared leaving behind the tell-tale pop and the smell of the brimstone dimension.

Several moments later Kurt reappeared again with the first of the injured that he had managed to grab hold of, the pair looking like they were about to be sick given the sudden jerk that was associated with the teleportation for the first time.

Alison wasn't fooling herself, there were students all ready on their way in there but it still felt so terrible to be sending Kurt in even if he had the best chance of anyone to get out quickly and unharmed. Sending people in wasn't going to be a role she was going to be good at but she could stand her ground here even if she was hoping very much that no kind of trouble came this way. She wasn't naive about it, however. She fully expected trouble to come in some form or another. She gathered the energy of the sound around her, bottling it up for when it would be necessary for her to use it. Any moment it would likely come through.

Now it hadn't yet as Kurt reappeared with some of the victims. She shifted over, putting herself between them and Kurt as quickly as she could manage just in case there was some kind of problem. "Over here now!" She called out, motioning the closest of the EMTs as they moved as well. She would have to give them room but for the split second she was here she glanced over the two in front of her now, kids, more than likely students dropping off food for the event and now they were wasted away. The hollow look to their eyes speaking of starvation that had lasted all of their lives instead of the short time since they had been inside.

"What is it like in there?" Alison glanced away from them to Kurt for a moment but regretted the move as something clamped down on her as hard and as hungrily as it could, trying to tear at her arm through the uniform she wore. A swear she wouldn't usually use around a student broke out as the EMT pried the mouth of one of the victims off of her.

"Let us worry about the people and get them to the first aid workers as quickly as we can," she replied to Kurt before taking off and gathering the first of numerous victims. In a way, she was lucky. Ororo didn't have to actually touch any of the victims, which would be easier on them but also safer for herself. The survivors were desperate, some even doing their best to eat anything at all in their surroundings. Grass, dirt, plastic containers that littered the ground, even a few trying in vain to gnaw on a chunk of concrete. It was those that she tended to first as they were closest to the exit of the stadium.

Gathering them in groups of two or three to prevent an overload of burdens, Ororo moved them to the Red Cross workers lined up with stretchers. As soon as she laid each one gently on either a waiting gurney or mats set up on the ground, she returned to the stadium for more. It wasn't a tedious job so much as a soul wrenching one. Each pained face, each set of haunted eyes, pleading with her for help sans any words, clutched at her heart. Storm would do anything she could to save the survivors but there were so few rescuers and too many victims.

Returning with yet another trio, Ororo laid her charges down and looked around for her colleagues and student. Kurt was working diligently, Henry was busy with more of the victims and Allison...was being chomped on by a victim. She approached her fellow X-Man and frowned slightly as the mouth of the child was pried off. "Are you all right?" she asked the other woman, concern in her blue eyes as well as her voice.

She'd heard the question directed toward their student but allowed the young man to answer Alison. He had seen the same things she had and would likely explain it just as well as she could.

JUST WHAT THE (BEAST)DOCTOR ORDERED

Henry McCoy had never been a combat medic. He had also never worked in an Emergency Room. Trauma centers were a new animal to him, but he supposed he would have had to face one eventually, being the staff medic to Charles Xavier’s X-Men. He had traded in his usual dress shirt and tie for a loose fitting polo shirt to ensure he didn’t have to fuss with long sleeves, and he’d already heard plenty of comments on the plane from the students that they barely recognized him without his tie and lab coat.

All the same, he knew he was in for a rocky road. Famine was something he had only read about. There wasn’t much of it in New York State, and what there was didn’t come stumbling to Xavier’s School for medical treatment. When the first refugees began to straggle back to them – through the auspices of Kurt and Ororo – he had to inhale sharply to keep himself from staring at the severely emaciated adults and children, people he remembered had not been emaciated that morning.

If he ever got his own hands on Apocalypse, however unlikely that was, he’d rip the bastard’s head off.

“Kurt,” He called out to the blue furred student who had just reappeared with two students. “Try and find severe cases, they’ll need us fast.” He knew he was repeating what the boy had already been told, but it needed said again. He bit down at his lower lip, looking towards the stadium and folding his arms across his chest. All he could do was wait until patients were brought to him. For now, the EMT’s seemed to have in hand what they were being brought.

He made his way over to start assisting the EMTs in the meantime, crouching down to help them reassure one of the children that they were in safe hands now.

Thankfully Miss Blaire was on point to untangle the rescues from Kurt, not that he didn’t want anything to do with them but he didn’t want anything to do with them because he didn’t want this to become a thing about his appearance. There were more important things going on here, and the fights had to be picked carefully, Alison asked how things were in there, and really there was only one way it could be put. ”It’s going to be a long, long day,” And that was without it getting worse, and Kurt knew better than to try and jinx it any further, the blue fuzzy demon had heard about what happened when the horseman were out first hand from the other students at the school.

Hank then gave Kurt his orders, ”On it Doc.” So he had to find the ones that were hurt most, ”I’ll be back soon,” Kurt disappeared in a cloud of smoke leaving behind the BAMF sound and reappeared moments later within the stadium. As soon as he reappeared, one of the influenced set upon him, grabbed from behind Kurt wriggled to try and get free while they tried to sink their teeth into his neck, thankfully Kurt was far more flexible and bendy than any baseline human. Contorting himself almost in half he slipped out of the grip and leapt upwards into the air landing on the back of one of the controlled before leaping off them and further into the stadium.

Standing still wasn’t an option for him, he’d soon get swallowed up, a good fifty meters from him Kurt could see someone that was covered in blood, how they were injured he couldn’t see but he needed to get them out. BAMFing across the distance, Kurt grabbed the man, his blue fingers checking to see if there was a pulse, there was but they needed help now and he didn’t have time to try and find anyone else for the time being. Grabbing hold of the man he focused once again on the outside of the stadium.

”Doc!” Kurt shouted, as he picked up the man, ”I’ve got one for you,” Kurt ran as fast as he could which was a little awkward for him, but he did what he could as these people had to be saved, and he needed to get back into the stadium to rescue the others.

She swallowed the next swear, surprised at herself that it even wanted to come out as her arm was freed from the starving person. She stepped back quickly, a bit sick at herself at the reaction to something she should have anticipated happening. She knew it was her guilt kicking in again, this was something that needed to be smothered within her and quickly. "Oh yes, I'm sure this is going to be one of the longest days." It was what she could hope anyway. Surely something like this wasn't going to become eclipsed in her mind or anyone else's mind any day soon or later. That was a fearsome prospect of the future.

"I'm okay." She answered, looking down at her arm as she judged the damage. Flesh was torn to be certain but in the grand scheme of things she wasn't about to compare hurts with anyone here. It would be tended to when everything else was as long as it wasn't getting in the way of her at least doing something here. "I think it'll stay on anyway. Now I can say I'm tasty, yeah?" No, she wasn't going to let herself dwell on her reaction or feel bad about backing away as quickly as she did. There wasn't any time for that and they all had their jobs to do.

And Alison's job was to do what little she could to at least try to calm people and keep things as organized as she can. "Get any IDs and such to me off of who is brought in, I'm going to start keeping track of who it is we've pulled out. Any time now family is going to be rolling up and I think that the police and such would appreciate such things."

Ororo couldn't help the frown that crossed her usually placid features when Alison indicated that she was okay. Her arm where it had been bit suggested otherwise to the weather witch but she was no medic despite the wounds she helped to patch up during her years in Kenya. At the attempt to be lighthearted regarding the flavor of her flesh, a white eyebrow rose but Storm did not attempt to dispute the words. Due to the severity of the emaciated victims, she didn't doubt that Ali might taste good to them. It was a nauseating thought and one she pushed to the back of her mind in an effort to remain emotionally calm.

Gesturing with one arm, she used a slight wind gust to lift a medical kit from across the way and brought it close enough to grasp with her hands before holding it out to her fellow instructor. "Please set my mind at ease and at least use some antiseptic on the wound. The last thing we want to do is possibly introduce bacteria into your body," Ororo suggested. After all they had witnessed with Pestilence and the plethora of illness that had resulted, she didn't think any of them relished the idea of even catching a simple cold, much less a bacterial infection.

Alison gave her orders to collect identification on all the victims they had gathered and Ororo nodded approvingly at her. "Excellent idea. I will let Kurt know and if I see any items laying around, although they are not on the person, I will bring them to you," she replied as she once again lifted into the air via wind currents.

Leaving the older woman, she visually scanned the area and spotted the familiar shock of blue that led her to the young man. He was carrying a rather terrible looking victim and she heard him call out to Henry. Landing near him, Ororo said quickly, "Here, allow me to help." With a small burst of wind, she gently lifted the bloody man out of Kurt's arms, freeing him from his burden. Before moving the man toward Henry and the other workers, she quickly added, "Dazzler would like us to gather up identification on the victims. Families should start to arrive shortly."

With that, she placed the man on a waiting stretcher for the first aid workers to attend to and continued along with her duties, finding more victims and bringing the worst off ones to Henry and the others first while slowly starting a pile of purses, wallets and bags near Alison for the woman to go through and categorize. Alison was right. It was going to definitely be a very long, grueling day.

((OOC: Terry, poke me for edits regarding Kurt if you'd like them.))
