(Note, this takes place after Famine and Death's successes)

It was not yet the grand hall that their most esteemed overseer surely felt befitting to his cause but Dr. Essex was more than at home pulling himself up to the table that had been teleported over by one of his grander successes and enjoying the sweet rewards of his work. Well, perhaps others contributed to the work but Essex certainly wasn't going to be shy about having his cut of the credit. With a quick motion of his hand the doctor summoned one of their newest arrivals that was ready for work and wine was brought for his glass.

The doctor didn't overly care for any kind of drink that dulled his senses but he did care about prompt service. How else was he to access what a fine job he was still doing.

"I suppose we should have a toast of some sort." He announced despite the fact that nobody seemed to even be looking his way. "The completion of duty to this degree is something to be expected but also something to be celebrated after so many disappointing performances before. Our Horsemen have finally paid their worth and our plans have stepped up to the new level. I must say, this new home will be quite fine when it is complete. I'm glad we have been invited to see the place, certainly." He smiled as he looked up at the place. Even though it was still very much under construction the ostentatious grandeur could certainly be noticed if not appreciated. Nur's tastes did seem to skew to the ostentatious, or so Essex observed. Knowing the mutant and his flare for the dramatic, though, that cannot be unexpected. A humble man got nothing done and he certainly didn't need anyone to herald his arrival.

It was strange to be any kind of at ease alongside the doctor but with him waiting for his orders as to what other locations to scout Remy was currently very much benched. Maybe he would have a new role; he just didn't want to be seen as having no specific use among these people. Judging by the looks of those that were brought about to serve this meal Remy knew very well what having no use would look like. Eventually there would be a purpose that he did not like at all and once he had been used up he would be planted in the ground by these people.

While he would never deny that he owed the Doctor his life, Remy was not about to pay with his life. Was that the kind of thing that the other man's followers were perfectly willing to do? He hadn't seen as much of them as he should to make up his mind about them, yes, but there was a sinking suspicion in Remy that they were indeed those type of people. One of them was now a Horseman; surely the others could see that as a very bad sign for their future prospects. They drank to the successes of Nur's weapons but the two of them left were mindless, savage. Beaubier surely didn't think that would be her fate in all of this.

Despite the questions Remy drank. There was nothing to do about it until he had his next location and the teleporter dropped him off. "It was quite the bloodbath, that's for sure." He raised his glass and the drink tasted of the blood he was still seeing as he closed his eyes. It was a hard drink to swallow but Remy had been handed enough hard drinks in his life to get another and another down. He wasn't, however, about to make the toast. That was something his tongue couldn't handle now.

Famine drank, although in truth she could not taste it. The alcohol did little considering her superior metabolism in any case. To her, it might as well be water. But she drank it, sat at the table with the others but far from still, constantly shifting and moving about on her seat as she observed the others.

A slightly smug look came upon her face as Essex commented how the Horsemen had proven themselves. She knew still that she had not originally been meant for that path of glory but necessity had risen her to it. And she had earned it. “And not just blood…” Famine sighed, almost dreamily. Her attack had been vicious yes, but a different kind of cruelty was hers to give the world. “We are forging the path. Chipping away…”

Somewhere within her, Jeanne-Marie was still there. But her fractured personality was mute and shackled now and even if she had not been buried, the facet of Famine would have buried herself in horror and shame at what she had done. Even her Aurora persona would not have wanted this, not what was truly expected of her. What she had wanted was a jumbled twist of justice for herself, else vengeance for wrongs done to her and those like her. Those she had hurt and warped, killed had done nothing to deserve what she had brought down upon them. But…in the distorted mind of Famine, everyone who was not them was the same, and everyone who was not them must bend the knee or break. It was a simple fact of life to her now.

“To the next ones we break,” she lifted her glass, the words rather crude but filled with joy. They had not quite sown the seeds of destruction around the world in person, but the world knew they would be coming for them. No one could ignore their attacks, not the common person or the politicians or the other mutants…They’d all learn.
